Download MP3[00:00:00] Welcome back to part two with Chris Hendricks and his amazing musical talents that we got the opportunity to experience because we couldn't stop last time. Let's get ready to ramble. [00:00:15] [00:00:30] [00:00:45] ladies and gentlemen, Chris Hendricks,[00:01:00]
disclaimer, I did not write this song. Don't sue us. But it was mentioned earlier, so[00:01:15]
lonely by staring out at the window looking a sun skin.
You feed in jam, she'll be by [00:01:30] inside, but.
And all them praying to see so he can't see him to keep [00:01:45] himself out of trouble. He says he make his money the best way out. Another body lying called God, listen to me. Yeah, [00:02:00] don't go chasing waterfalls, please. To the rivers. And you too. I know that you're going have your way on nothing, but [00:02:15] I think you way too fast.
Yeah. Yeah. Little precious as a natural obsession temptation that just can't see. [00:02:30] She'll give him love and that
can say his baby is good to me. And then one day he takes [00:02:45] some glimpse. And he doesn't recognize his long face. His health is fading and he doesn't know why. Three letters to his father [00:03:00] resting place. Listen to his. Don't go chasing waterfall. Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you used. I knew that you are going to have [00:03:15] any joy or nothing at all, but I think you are moving way too fast.
Yeah.
[00:03:30] RIP left eye.
I seen a rainbow yesterday with too many stones are come and gone without a tree of one God given Ray. Is it because my life tendance sheets are great? I pray all 10 fade away. Seldom praising forward with sunny [00:03:45] days. I know his promise is true. Only the faith can un undo. All the tendencies are blue. To bring my life to a new CLE blue and unconditional.
Guys bringing the tears from my eyes. No, my only cries, my only bleeding. Opens for folks who can't cope with such an end endure and pain that it keeps them in the [00:04:00] pouring rain. Who used to blame for shooting can into your own lane? Who's to blame for going shooting someone else's? Bring you playing the insane and name the date and time you fallen.
Pray to crime. I say the system got you victim to your own mind. Dreams of hopeless aspirations and hopes are coming true. Believe in yourself. The [00:04:15] rest is up to. Jason don't want fall. Please stick to the rivers. I'm excited. You used to. I know that you're gonna have it in your, aint nothing at all, [00:04:30] but I think you're moving way too fast as, yeah, I don't go.
Fault. Please stick to the real looks at you. Used to. [00:04:45] I know that you gonna have any on nothing at all, but I think you're moving way.[00:05:00]
Woo. Woo Ow. Holy shit balls, man. Yes. That was f fantastic. Thank you. TLC Waterfall Podcast [00:05:15] world. You're welcome For the Eargasm. Okay. That was fantastic. Obviously we all know that's, I just gotta put this out here. TLC Waterfalls made famous just covered by Mr. Chris Hendricks here in the studio on the spot.
By the way, listen, that [00:05:30] was not pre askeded or preplanned. I mentioned that my first city wast LCI would say that our chair dancing was amazing. Yeah. Yes, yes, yes. I, I watched it. I bared witness. I bared witness to the shadows. Thank you. It was epic. Oh man, that was so good. Thank. [00:05:45] I haven't heard you play that before anyway.
Anywhere when I've heard you sing, so you should add that to your list if you haven. That's awesome, man. It's gone. There. That's good one. Okay. Okay. I about say, especially whenever you hit left eye's part, I was like, oh shit. No, he didn't. Yes. I like to pre pretend that I [00:06:00] can say words fast. Listen, it was, it was great.
It was awesome. How, how you feeling over there, Joe? It was good. It was, man, many words over there. Few words. Yeah. Oh man. That is, that's awesome. Like, do you have, [00:06:15] anytime you go out and you're, you know, you're playing these house shows and things like that, do you. Have a song that you're like, well, two questions here.
One that you're like, absolute, absolutely not. I'm not playing that song. Or to the other side of that one that you absolutely 100% of the time will play. Okay. [00:06:30] So one that I will play I will play 100% of the time. That's a good question. Honestly, it, it might actually be waterfalls. Okay. Because my, because my my guitarist always reminds me, I.
That it's a good [00:06:45] idea to do that song if we haven't if we haven't played it. And it's honestly like it's got, man, I. Good songs don't need to be complicated. They just need a sweet sick groove, which is why all the songs that you love are four chords and you can sing [00:07:00] every song you all love over those same four chords.
But this is just one of those examples where simplicity wins. So as far as songs that I will not play,
Now I [00:07:15] can't even, I, I know I know the song, but the name like just left my brain. Oh, okay. All right. I'm gonna get haters for this one. I'm sorry. Like, I know that it's Carolina born and bred, but like. [00:07:30] I hate playing wagon wheel guys. I hate it. I, I'm sorry. Like, I know I'm props to Old Crow Medicine show.
They're, they're great. They're a great crew. There's so many wonderful nuggets in that song. [00:07:45] But I have played that song more than I have played Wonder Wall because some person whose blood alcohol level is way high has insisted that I play that song well. That, and then it got like. Revived, rejuvenated again, whatever.
[00:08:00] Darius R covered it, right? So covered it. Yep. Yep. I was convinced you were gonna say police. Oh, coming straight from the underground.
[00:08:15] Oh man. That, oh man. I just, now I'm just like, can you just play us concert? I. Yes. Yes, I can. Can I? I'm very affordable. Just saying, because I mentioned this song earlier that it's on repeat on my YouTube. Will you play a little bit of that [00:08:30] song for me? Sure, of course. Us. I'm sorry. Not just for me. I'm not the only one here.
She's like, you guys can go. Yeah, that's fine. I am still here. There are many voices in this space.[00:08:45]
Actually since I'm here and this is kind of like a cool vibe and it's audio only, I'm gonna try something a little funky with this on. Okay.[00:09:00]
We [00:09:15] stand only edge. Something crazy in your wondering whether you should jump. I know it hurts if you are not bleeding, you'll not dreaming if you are wondering if you've had enough. You [00:09:30] keep on pushing me. You just second me and you remember, girl and dreams are never free. And while you're pushing, if you are wondering what I'm doing, I'll be on the street singing because [00:09:45] I don't need a radio play.
I don't sing. They like me much anyway. And you are reason I play. No. Oh, by the way, I'm going make you one day,[00:10:00]
one day.
And you are thinking you'd be needing my permission, your mistake, and I can promise, say I [00:10:15] got a dream and I'm the only one who sees it and you'll never knock me off, Trey. So if you thinking you can knock me down, you are wrong. I'll be standing on the edge. Proud and strong. And while [00:10:30] you're pushing, if you wondering what I'm doing now, we on the street singing, Hey, za, donate a radio playing.
I don't sing. They like me much anyway. And you, you [00:10:45] are the reason I play. No. Oh, by the way, I'm gonna make it one day.
All right, you guys gonna participate with my little woo little, little bridge part here? Listen, [00:11:00] dig your own grave, but you sure
if you know love, I want you. Screaming at the top of your lungs. Woo. If you no love [00:11:15] you screaming at the top of your lungs. Woo.
If you no love, all you screaming at the top of your lungs, I you[00:11:30]
screaming it. The top of your,
I don't need a radio play. I don't think they lack me much anyway. And you, [00:11:45] the reason I play, we're going to make you one.
You one day.[00:12:00]
Woo Woo. I'm telling you guys, please go. Spotify, YouTube, music, [00:12:15] all Apple, iTunes. Listen, you can tell I'm an Apple person, Chris Hendricks spelled correctly. Yes, yes. CKS. That's I'm telling you, the first time I heard that song. I think, I don't know what made me like Google, you, I dunno. Probably just 'cause I'd met you and you were cool.[00:12:30]
And and when I stumbled upon, like, I, so I, I use YouTube music for streaming. Nice. And so when that came up, and so now when it comes aside like my, like, like play, when I can't decide what I wanna listen to, I'm just like, shuffle all my liked songs. And when that one comes on, man, I, I literally [00:12:45] dance around the house and I'm just like, yes.
Fuck you radio. That's the greatest. That might be, maybe that's why I'm not. Maybe that's why I'm not on the radio. Like maybe, maybe, maybe somebody heard that and was like, this guy. No, [00:13:00] I, because obviously it goes beyond, but like the metaphor for it, like I'm just sitting there, I'm like, yes, like my dream.
Like that. This was like my song for 2025 right now and like starting over in my career and all that kind of stuff. So we were talking about vision boards in our previous episode, and that's my vision board. That [00:13:15] song is my vision board. Thank you. I can I throw, I, I want to, so my, my, my partner wife person, that is forever until she says no.
She suggested the coolest thing. Have you guys heard of Vision Bingo cards? Like 20, 25 bingo cards. So it's, [00:13:30] so the guest that we had on the previous episode, Cy Harold, the author, he has an author bingo card that he just saw and the bottom left corner said, be a guest on a podcast. And I was like, buddy, I think I can help you out with that.
And boom, here he was. So I had not until I saw his like two days ago. I [00:13:45] know, I'm like, I'm kind of excited that I kind of wanna try it. Nice. I've try, I've like dabbled in that world of, of. Believe, I believe manifested I get yes. But like I and I, and I love it, but I'm also like [00:14:00] afraid of being disappointed.
Like I haven't, you, you know what I'm saying? Like, like there's people that are like, I want the house and I'm gonna go to Maui and live there for six months. And like, they have like these huge, like these massive things. Yes. And they'll like, they [00:14:15] tell the stories of like, them happening like, you know, 3, 4, 5 years later or whatever.
But like. Know, I've, like, I've written down big goals before and for me, and it's my problem, something I gotta work on is like, whenever I look at [00:14:30] them and I realize they're not there yet, it like, like it puts like a little crack in my Yeah. It deflates you a little bit in my heart and I need to, it's not, I need to get past that.
'cause like I dig it, I dig the vibe. Yeah. Right. I know that [00:14:45] it's like my head. Maybe you can do like a smattering of like, things like you know you're gonna do, right? Mm-hmm. Like, brush my teeth today. That way you can mark that one up. Yes. Brush my teeth. And ladies and gentlemen, Chris Hendricks is gonna start brushing his teeth [00:15:00] 2025.
It's like bingo. Free spaces never late. So how does, how does it work? So if you get a bingo, then what? What do you win? Ooh, bragging rights. But that, well, see, that's, don't think like I, I know nothing beyond like there's a card and you put stuff, I, I think it's just for self-satisfaction. Like you, you, [00:15:15] you accomplish five goals.
If you get bingo, at least five goals, I think you should go in it with somebody else and you should have like a friendly wager. Mm-hmm. Like once, first one to a bingo, you owe me a hundred dollars or something like that. Or maybe first one to a bingo has to take the other person to [00:15:30] Red Rocks to see Teddy Twin on their 40th birthday in August.
So what's crazy 'cause So I also turned 40 this year. Yeah. In October. Nice. And so that's kind of how this happened. 'cause we were talking about, at one time I wanted to do like a travel trip with the [00:15:45] family to like Arizona and Airbnb. And then I was like, eh, I don't like planning all that. And then I was like, oh, it'd be really cool, like Red Rocks, seen a concert, red Rock.
I've been there like hiked around at a couple of times, but I had never seen a concert there, so it's been on my bucket list. And I was like, man, I wonder who I was playing. Like, that'd be cool to go and see somebody there. It was like a bir, [00:16:00] like a, her birthday's in June, so we were like, we could split the baby and like go at a different time, like in between our birthdays.
And we, I was like, I wonder who's playing at Red Rocks? And I started, I was like, it'd be really cool if Teddy swims was playing. I kept on scrolling. I was like, holy shit. Shit. August 26th, the next day tickets [00:16:15] were purchased. We paid way too much for him. But August 26 is my dad's birthday. Oh, also happy, happy birthday.
Just dad also who's also named Chris. Happy birthday. Right? He's Chris Hendricks. [00:16:30] S I'm Chris Hendricks, Jr. They'll get you for the Happy Birthday song. That's the one you can't sing. That's of a bitch. Which is so dumb. That's the dumbest thing you have to sing. I have a birthday too, actually. Can I Actually, I let me, I'm gonna ramble on one thing.
That [00:16:45] soapbox. I hit it. Copyright fuck off. No. Like, no, I'm. Serious. Like, like with with, with music in particular, all you rich assholes who are like, Hey, there's this nobody that started to make money off that song around 30 [00:17:00] years ago when I'm 80. Let me kill your career. I hope you all die in a bat of battery acid slowly.
I really like, I really hope you die in a really painful way. There are, there are 11 notes, [00:17:15] y'all. Mm-hmm. There's 11 notes that, that to me is like saying. Back in 1926, my grandmother used vanilla in the cake and now no one may use fucking vanilla because my grandmother copyrighted that shit. Bitch, that's maybe mic drop.[00:17:30]
That's what I'm saying. So, and that, that's like, that's my message to like the old people who have islands and want another island and they're mad about it. So they kill some poor young guys so they can have an island. My message to the other. Musicians who are nobodies, just put your shit [00:17:45] out. Like just put it out.
And guess what? If somebody famous is mad at you? 'cause you sound like them. Good for you. Yeah. What, like, like if you, if you, no one knew about you and then you put out something and then like. Jay-Z is [00:18:00] mad. Yeah. Well guess what? You went from nobody to being somebody, but Jay-Z is pissed off is right. Yeah.
That came from, I learned that message. I learned that lesson from my guitarist. It's just so true. Like God, like I don't care. I don't like, that's actually one of the biggest things that's [00:18:15] helped me write these songs a day. Oh, that kind of sounds like whatever. I don't care if any of these people. Jump on my radar and they're like, Chris, I used a C chord too.
You can't do that. Right? It's a C chord. It's a [00:18:30] very rare, oh my God. Version of the CI came up with it while I was doing acid and you can't, it's not fair. Is it? I, it's mine first. Like I just know. Yeah, I will. I will. Man. Weird A Sounds [00:18:45] angry. Right. That's good, man. Yes. I, I dig that. Yeah, I dig that. I tried to watch his, his Daniel Radcliffe biopic man.
Anybody see that? No. I tried to, I don't [00:19:00] think I made it through. Yeah, and that's just gave up on it's, and it sucks because like, it's perfect. No, really it's the perfect movie. 'cause it's weird, Al. Yeah. Parroting his life as a parody like, like he's, he's absolutely. That makes [00:19:15] weird all sense. Like it is.
Exactly. And it was parody ception, and it was so. Beautifully done. And Daniel Radcliffe does an awesome job. And Evan Rachel Wood, she's local. Yeah. Yep, that's right. Oh yeah, that's right. David [00:19:30] Ier Wood, the third puts on, puts on the, the Scrooge the Christmas Carol, the Christmas Carol, every year back in, circling all the way back to Tiny Tim and my tiny Tim references today.
What's up? What's going on? Ladies and gentlemen, who played Tiny Tim, who was really famous guy [00:19:45] Eddie Munoz. Oh, played tiny him in that production forever ago. Really? And Michael C. Hall from Dexter was also in that production? No, he was really, yeah. The rumor is for his last year, which is, is like this year that they were all supposed to come back, like Michael C.
Hall, [00:20:00] Frankie Munz. Rachel, Evan, which would be like quite a shock if you're just watching the Christmas Carol and you're just like, wait a minute. They just keep bringing out bigger and bigger. Wait, is it really? It's really was. This past year is the last one. He's passing the man to a son. He was in here on a [00:20:15] podcast.
Oh, that's cool. That's very cool. Oh man, dude, that's like my, my mom, that was like a tradition. She took me like every year when I was little. I saw it several years ago. My, my parents have seen it a couple of times. They were, they were big into it, but yeah. That's, that's awesome. Yeah. That's very cool. Yeah.[00:20:30]
That's really cool. Can we just keep doing, can I just, can I just be on another episode? I'm, I have just, just enough of narcissism where I'm just like, please, please. I feel like as a musician, like you, you have to a little bit, right? Yeah. Like, you gotta, it's the only way. Yeah. You have to put yourself [00:20:45] out there.
No, I, I, we were just talking about 'cause like I said, we ask every guest. What the last song was is I got stuck in their head and we can't ever play them because I know of these dumb copyright laws. It's really silly. So theyre like, we should just bring Chris back and have him. How is play, how that doing [00:21:00] disservice to these artists if we honor their music?
Yeah, that's what I mean. Totally. By playing 15 seconds of it. That's the very, and that's what's so funny is like the first time that oh crap. He ed, ed Sheeran Uhhuh so Ed Sheeran found out on, [00:21:15] in like an interview that his, like one of his songs had like gone viral illegally. Like everyone downloaded it off of Limewire and he was like, fuck yeah.
He was like, that's the great, I'm so psyched about [00:21:30] that. And that should be everyone's response. Yeah. He's probably not thinking That's the only song I'm ever gonna write. Yeah, that's what I mean. And, and it's like, and also like there are so many, you know, we fall in love with. One of the reasons why we become artists is 'cause we've fall in love [00:21:45] with artists.
Mm. So if I write a song, like, so I, I love Fleetwood Mac. Oh, I, I love them. And my favorite album is is rumors. Rumors actually saved my life. Like Max right up there. Right? I know. [00:22:00] And, but if I like write a song that sounds, it is, you know, oddly like dreams or something or like one of the songs on there.
It's because in my subconscious somewhere is that moment when I was that song song and it meant [00:22:15] so much to me that it had to sort of come through me in its own way. And you guys are still, this is such a silly thing to me because I have such a scientific mindset, mindset to consider that you would not use the information.[00:22:30]
From someone else to influence. That's how it all works. There's a great Do how you think. Talk about everything's a remix. Like you can't Absolute Yeah. You can't have an original thought. There is no original thought. There is literally everything you say, every word you use. Actually, it's [00:22:45] so funny. Like going into the speaking world.
I fuck I cut you off. I'm sorry. I'm such a No, you're fine. I'm such a tool. Unless you're a talented tool. I'm sorry, I did it first. Post tool, I'm still here. Post tool moment. In the, in the speaking world, whenever I hear [00:23:00] other, um, speakers explain their topics, one of the number one things that you hear all the time.
Is mindset. I say mind mindset is one of my three. Because who doesn't wanna [00:23:15] learn about how to be happier? Like that's like the number one thing is like, everyone feels like shit in some capacity and they wanna feel like less that. Right. You know? You know what I mean? So like everyone's saying that, and it used to like [00:23:30] drive me nuts.
Like, oh, everyone's doing mindset. Ugh. Turns out like that's if, if you take every. Speech ever at like a, a, a, a corporation or a conference. Anytime someone is [00:23:45] hired, they can dress it up however they want, but at the end of the day, the speech is about how you could maybe suck less as a person, right? Yeah.
Right. Yeah. I mean, that's what it is. That's what it is. [00:24:00] Which could all, which all circles back to, to, to mindset. 'cause it's all about how we feel. Mm-hmm. And how we feel leads to what we do and what we do leads to temperaments and outcomes and all of these things. Therefore, vision boarding. [00:24:15] Yes. It's the greatest manifest tool that has ever been manifestation.
That's right. That's the whole thing, right? Manifestation, man. The, the people that were like, oh, manifestation. Oh, it's new. Manifesting is new. No, it's not. It's you [00:24:30] happily thinking about what hasn't happened yet. It got a hashtag, what could it be? It got a hashtag on TikTok by an influencer. Everybody thought it was new, and again, like good for them, you know?
Good for the, Ooh, the Secret. [00:24:45] It's a secret. What a brilliant. That's the most brilliant marketing I've ever seen in my life. They use that for everything. Did you know the greatest secret ever? Did you know just eating meat? Just the greatest secret ever. Just drinking water. Yes. [00:25:00] Greatest secret. Ever. So true.
It's so true. We went on this. It's so funny. So my my wife and I explored danced around the carnivore space. Yes. In 23. You've heard about that. The only meat thing. Yeah. And this is another social media thing. It's [00:25:15] so funny. These people become influencers are like well respected.
Individuals and they'll say like, no fault of their own. They'll say on these like podcasts and interviews and stuff, like, Hey, I am not a nutritionist, [00:25:30] I'm not a health expert, but I started doing carnivore and it's working for me, and it's a, and then you see all these comments underneath, yes, carnivore is for me.
I heard so and so say it. I must only. Kill [00:25:45] Bambi and that's all I will eat for the next 365 days. And because that's how the world like consumes mm-hmm. Stuff now, like it doesn't matter how many disclaimers Yeah. You put out there, they [00:26:00] said we're an expert. And now I can't breathe anymore. I've had three heart attacks.
Yeah. It's cholesterol doesn't exist, right? Yeah. I don't [00:26:15] know, man. I don't even know where that leaves us. And on that note. Hungry. Yeah. Hungry. Hungry, hungry. Yes. I am craving a hamburger right now. Yeah. Don't lie. No lie. For real, [00:26:30] [00:26:45] [00:27:00] [00:27:15] man. Chris, this has been such a blessing to have you in this space and to thank you so much for sharing your time, your [00:27:30] talent, your brain, your humor everything with us.
I hope more of the world hears it because it needs to hear more than just your wonderful voice and, and artistry. Mm-hmm. The, your thoughts on, you know, being a person with a disability and, and how the world also sees that and [00:27:45] just all of that. Like, I just feel like motivated, like, just like, whoa. You know, like, take on the world.
Let's do it. Let's do it together. Yes. Yeah. So make your bingo card buddy. 'cause I think you'll knock it outta the park. Yes. Absolutely. Manifesting. Manifesting man manifest. Yeah. I knew it'd be [00:28:00] fun. Is there a song you wanna take us out to? An outro song? An outro song? Yeah. Oh, I know, I keep on putting you on the spot.
Sorry. That's alright. I was like, I have talent at my fingertips and disposal. I know, right. Let's see. Well let me ask you, do you wanna do you want like [00:28:15] a happy song or do you want like a gritty song? What do you want? Ooh, I want a happy song. Happy song. Happy song. Yep. Happy song. All right. Think back to my happy, happy days.
Move outta the gray. Move outta the gray. [00:28:30] I was happy once.
Sometimes when you wake up [00:28:45] and you can get outta bed with the world on your shoulders and pounding in your head when you're drowning in the water, while you can't hardly breathe, find the motion in the ocean. Holy your [00:29:00] head up. I believe you got no real reason to be down. Listen to my brand new sound, how this is my aunt song to all of you.
People [00:29:15] listen and be stable. Do rain is, and the road is
you.[00:29:30]
When you will seems to be leaving on the last train home, when you lose track of your love and forget where you come from, take a [00:29:45] lesson in the rhythm, go on a rock out on to a ride, or keep the beach square underneath the feet. And you might make it out this time 'cause you've got no real reason to be wrong.
Listen to your [00:30:00] brand new song. Oh, this is my a song to all of you people and is shaking. Listen now, be stable though. The rain is heavy and the road is [00:30:15] long. S with me and be strong, Mr.
Jack being numb. Jack, be quick. I'm Jack Jumbo Over letter [00:30:30] candle stick. But sometimes he slips, sometimes he falling in the whole wide world. Don't matter at all. But then Jack mean Jill. She kinda kid with the baby. Ain't nobody ever bulletproof. He's a little bitty piece of God. Simple truth. I love you the way you are.
