Download MP3[00:00:00] Default_2026-03-05_3: said I was materialistic because I said, I prefer a man with a Java car and a place to live. Yeah.
No, I just, you know, I just said, so was he a homosexual and was just trying to move it homosexual? I don't, A couch has, he had none of these things. So you severely offended all of him? Apparently. I did. Like, the thing is, he could have been like, I'm an Uber driver and I live in my car. Yeah. That's all three, one.
You just told me that you have a job, you have a, you have a car and you, you have a place to live. I wasn't specific, like, I
[00:00:38] Default_2026-03-05_3: What's up, Ramblers? Our podcast is like a box of chocolates. You just never know what you're gonna get or whatever. Pores Gump said. I'm Jen. Has it just turned to a therapy session? Okay. We in our state of endless chaos in the United States of Hell. Yes. Yes, that's right. Oh, just go right in. Yeah. Yeah. Our, our last episode, we were, we went all in, in the pain, all in campaign. You know, you gotta let it out. Something, you know, like you said before with dance moves, farts.
Like another, you gotta let it out. Yeah. It's not healthy. This is no different. Mm-hmm. So you may hear another voice on with us today. We are so happy to have a guest joining us who is local here in the triangle area. And I've had the pleasure of seeing her twice live, which sounds a little tantalizing.
Don't tell him everything. And, uh, dejas also seen her alive. Mm-hmm. So Ashley, she gets around. Um, is what it sounds like moral the story in a good way. In a good, in a good way. Um, so joining us today is a local comedian at Ms. Ashley Preston. Ashley, thank you so, so much for joining us today. Thank you.
Clapping. Great to be here, Joe. You got it. Almost there. We thankfully edited to where it sounds legit. Yeah. Perfect. It was perfect. Yeah. Yeah. Perfect. Nailed it. Um, so Ashley is, she resides in Raleigh. Shout out Raleigh Wood. Yes. Um, but was born and raised in metro Detroit, Michigan. Oh, nice. Nice. Are you friends with Eminem?
Uh, yes. Perfect. We're besties. Excellent. Next guest. Right there. It's happening. I mean, I, we were neighbors 'cause I grew up in northern Wisconsin, so Yeah. I was also basically distance friends with I, I'm pretty sure I saw your house over the Yeah. Bud The water. Didn't we like throw snowballs at each other?
Other We did. We winter skated that one winter over there together. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I like it. That's how it works. Yep. Uh, as mentioned, she is a standup comedian and great at it, by the way. Can testify to that 10 outta time. We recommend. She's also a comedy instructor. Improviser voice actor. Actor, traffic reporter, budding on air personality, public speaker, mc Dr.
Pepper enthusiast. Award-winning aunt voted best auntie ever by my nephews. You know what, I hold one of those awards as well. Oh, do you? Yeah. Um, podcaster in the works. Well technically you're on this podcast right now. Yeah. So you are. Podcast, actually. A podcaster podcast. Yes. Yeah, I did it. Mom? Yes. Again, insert applause.
Oh, nailed it. Um, and periodic Lyft driver. Bless you. Yeah. That's nice. Did you draw a lot of con content from Uh, not really. I, I've been, well I have a couple. I, but I've been fortunate to have like normal people. But you know, I have some people who wanna share their life story with me. Mm-hmm. And I'm like, wow, that's a lot to learn in 12 minutes.
So yeah, it's a lot. You got one of those faces that people just come up and tell your life story. Yeah, they do. In the grocery store is a Lyft driver, you know, just wherever this, and you didn't ask? Not at all. Nope. Not unprovoked justice, but I mean, I'm grateful 'cause I. Guess, listen, you are giving off a very calming vibe.
Oh, thank you. I, I do feel like I could be vulnerable and tender with you. That's, I'm glad I can, I'm glad I can bring that out of you. Thank you. Because this, I be it, man. I'm chaotic All on the inside. I say I am a hive of a bees in here. That's perfect. Yeah. Um, we can relate to this. You love traveling and hanging out with your family.
Yeah. And you also like to bowl and play tennis. And we'll use this as an updated 2026 Craigslist. Ask, add. You are looking for a new tennis partner? Yes. Oh, okay. Cool. I don't, I don't wanna play pickleball. I was gonna, my next question, I was like, I wanna play tennis. Tennis. Mm-hmm. Og you are not alone. Yeah.
I have heard others say the same thing. They, they do not wanna fall prey to the pickle trend. I they are true old school. Yeah. Lover of tennis. Gimme a, a big racket. Mm-hmm. I have a beautiful racket. It's beautiful. Okay, so anyone out there. We have an available tennis player for you. I should mention. I'm not good.
Okay. I just like disc player. We did not disclaim that we knew her talents. We just said just play. She's looking. Yeah. So that's And bowling man. I haven't been bowling in a while, but I do love the bowl. I love bowling. That's a time. Well they tore down the bowling alley on Hillsborough Street, which I went to NC State, so go wolf pack.
Right. So that would be the bowling alley I used to go. I mean, cheap beer. Great time. That's what's gone again. Not a great bowler. I just enjoyed the sport. Enjoyed the sport. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I've never claimed it. I bowled in a league for a while. Um, and it was actually called the Lousy Bowlers League, so Oh, it worked.
Was that up north or down here? No, it's down here. Okay. 'cause up north that's a big deal. Yeah. 'cause it's just snow and nothing else to do in the winter. So the snowmobiles bowling league. Right. That's like both my parents bowled. Yep. Like my brother is like an actual like real bowl league. Legit. Oh yeah.
He was like in, isn't he doing the leg cross? Oh, he does. And like all, yeah. When he was in high school, he was like a juniors state champion or something, which is sweet. Sweet. So he bowl in college, he bowls, still bowls three hundreds. It's weird. Yes. What do you have your own ball? I do two. You're legit.
You have two. Two pair of shoes and two bad. Are they personalized as well? They are. Oh, believe it. Excellent. Wow. Mm-hmm. Adam, we are sitting here and I know mm-hmm. Bowling royalty fan. I've the moves royal. I've got the moves. Maybe not the skill, but I do have the look. Hey, wing it. Win it. You know what I'm saying?
Like, do my thing out there on the lanes. You just, Mick Jagger that right. Hey. However you, however you do appreciate it. Yep. Mm-hmm. So if you could tell one, anybody one thing about bowling, what, what advice would you give for bowling? Uh, don't run Good. Don't run. And, um, I. Just have a good time. Have, don't, don't make it about the sport.
Just have a good time. Mm-hmm. Because the thing is, if you're, if you're bowling to try to like. Be a star. Like, don't do that. But if you're bowling, just to have a good time, do that. You're always gonna have a good time and don't think you're gonna beat me. That's, that's rule number one. Excellent attitude.
Yes, you might, but just don't go in there thinking that you will, just so you know. Mm-hmm. What's gonna happen. Yeah. You might, but you know, you might win. Try and you might not. Yeah. So, so running, so that, that's a thing. People run up to the just kids run. Yeah. And also don't throw it. Don't throw the ball.
Yeah. Don't throw it like a basketball either. No. Ugh, that's bad. Yeah. Bueno. Yeah. Or, or even like a what is a, a softball, don't do the softball through Yeah. The underhand pitch. Yeah. Don't do that. Just don't throw it like chuck it. Yeah. Roll it. Not Yeah. Roll it. I feel like I need to go work from a bowling alley so I could just get some good entertainment.
Yeah. By the way, you guys are describing all, I mean, I've been bowling before. Ready? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Get your finger exercises. Yeah. Just, okay. Well now I wanna go bowling. Um, whatcha you doing this weekend? Right, right. Bowling? Yes. Um, so we, I mentioned I had seen Ashley live a couple of times, um, as mentioned she's a comedian and I had the pleasure of, the first time that I saw you was, um, when I am involved in a nonprofit in the area called Safe Child, which is our local organization to help, uh, intervene and prevent a child abuse.
So fantastic. Heartbreaking but fantastic organization necessary. Um, yes. And Ashley was so kind enough to be a part of a group of comedians that, um, donated time to help raise funds for the organization. So thank you so, so much for that. And you continued to do it for other organizations in the area as well, it sounds like.
So, yeah. Um, that's phenomenal. And then, um, several, several episodes ago we had another, well, we've had a couple of other comedians on, uh, that we saw at the Gallant Times's Day special in 2025 at Goodnight's Comedy Club here. And Ashley was also a part of that. So I was pleasantly surprised whenever you stepped up on the stage.
I was like, oh, I know her. She doesn't know me, but I know her. It's crazy. 'cause that actually happens a lot now, which is weird to me. 'cause I've always just, I'm just gonna lay low, do my thing. And so I've had people walk up to me in public, like, excuse me. And I'm like, yes. Not creepy. The look around. Right.
It's the, are you, is your name Ashley? It's, and it, it's. At first it was like really weird. It's gonna be, yeah, man, that's bad. You know, I might've been in the streets a little bit before that and not really, but I mean, kind of, you know, and I don't know who you know, just, but we live in a big city. Yeah. So, so like, yeah.
For people like first name basis, right. Come up on you like, right. How you know me, I like, I had this lady walk up to me in Food Lion. She's like, excuse me, are you a comedian? I was like. Yes. And then she's like, oh, I saw you at this, such and such. I was like, oh, okay. And then I never know what to say after that.
I'm like, thanks. Yeah. Do you know where the bread is? Yeah. Like, but it's, it's kind of neat to be recognized that Yeah, I, that's awesome. I, I went on a, a date one time with a man Oh, oh, my, on my end. And we, we went to, uh, to work, we went to Goodnights because that's where you take your date. Your date, who's a comedian.
Got it. And, um, check, check. And he knew you were a comedian? He knew. We, we, we met there. We, we not met like, but we met up there. Oh, okay. So I was just like, he was like, I'm going to the show. I was like, oh, I'm going to, we should meet. So anyway, fast forward, um, we're leaving and as we're leaving, like there was another show going on.
So like, there's people who were like, Hey, Ashley, Hey Ashley. Hey Ashley. He is like. I was like, I don't, I mean, this is my whole club. What am I supposed to do? Yeah. Yeah. Blake, you should be impressed Sir Uhhuh, I was, I was actually kinda not embarrassed, but I was just kinda like, I just wanna walk out and not be noticed.
'cause then people are like, who's that man? I'm like, don't, don't worry about that either. Yeah. Right, right. That's the other part too. When other people you see that, you know, then see that whole situation, you're like, I'm gonna have to explain this later. Like, you are never gonna see him again. But 100% like the first time that I'd met him, like it was a first date.
And so don't get excited guys. I'm still on the market. We talk about that later. We're all in the club. Yeah. But except for Joe. Yep. How lame. It's a ladies club. Get outta here, Joe. Geez. You can't sit with us. I'm all, I'm in a relationship. I've been married since I was 15 because me sit at my own table over here.
We've never had eyes for anyone else. Actually, the things he says, ba, he and his wife are very sweet. Don't be precious. God damn anomaly. That's all. It's so adorable. For no reason. Stop it. Mm-hmm. You know? So the, I mean, this is just beautifully segues into what you wanted to chat about today and I think that we, when I say we, I mean me and Deja again.
Joe, you're on your own island over there, um, is ghosting. Oh yeah. Why not just say. You're just not interested. Yeah. You know, why keep the other person guessing? We'll get to the other part in a second because that's a separate topic, but also Great. Do you, do you ever, do any, ever do a petty, like obviously they've ghosted you, but then you're like, but they still haven't blocked me, so I'm just, I'm just gonna send some hilarious, like, I've actually dumped u texts.
Um, not I've dumped you, but I definitely have sent like, show flyers like, oh, you said you wanted to come see a show. Yeah. So, or like, there was one go, oh, if you ever do a class, I'm gonna take a class. So I sent him my class information. Love that. Beautiful. I mean, he read it. Yeah. And I mean, I, I, you know, there's some.
Facebook, the little things that we have. Minor Facebook stalking, just checking, you know, to see, you know, what he's doing. Where his kids are, you know what he's, what his dietary habits are like. Dietary habits are where he is going on vacation. What he's doing for work, just like little minor. What is social security card is?
It's not a fine. Where is his parents? Normal, normal, normal, siblings, nieces, nephews. Yeah. Yeah, it's a blood type. It's fine. Just no problem. Credit score. Credit is good. Definitely Credit score, shit. I recently updated my LinkedIn profile.
Oh, nice. Visual move. Yeah, I know too. To reflect that I am a performer versus a project manager, which is my former profession. Okay. And, um, that was a big move for me, but I realized, I was like, you know what, I'm gonna try to do it on like the dating sites. Mm-hmm. And so I have comedian and I have a voice actor and I have, you know, other things on there.
And it is a talking point. And then it almost automatically becomes a point where they have to prove that they're funnier than me. Oh. Which is so annoying because they're not such weak dick energy. Little, little dick energy. I'm talking about bent over limp. Oh my God. It's so, I'm just, it's so sad. It's so annoying.
You just ruined. Dude, you just ruined it by trying to outre, outsmart out justly Fuck all. And I'm just like, no, you don't have to do that. 'cause one, you're not gonna win. No. But b also, like, if you're not already like an established comedian, don't. Yep. Just don't. And that's, have you seen me at good nights?
Like you? Well, just so, okay. Altogether, let me lemme go back there. Uh, this guy was like, oh, you're a comedian. I'd love to see some of your work. And so prior he was talking about his comedic career and how Oh, you're just a baby in the game. I was like, okay. And I sent him a body of work and he was like, oh, you, you for real?
I was like, yeah. What did you like, what did you think? What he did was underestimate me. What he did was underestimate me. Yeah. And then I realized that, um. Because of some of my content, which is not bad or anything, but I do talk about dating adventures and some of my content. Mm-hmm. I think it actually scares men.
'cause I don't wanna it d for be a part of your set D for don't do anything to become a part of my set. Exactly. Right. Like, it's not like your name dropping. Yeah. Like I could, right. But I'm not gonna do that. It's been, it's been a minute. Like, but when I very f it's been a while since I had been on the dating sites.
Um, but I did put on there that I was a podcaster, right? Mm-hmm. And I had a couple that I was like, oh yeah, here's my podcast. They showed interest, right? Mm-hmm. And I got one who just said, oh my. Yeah. And then ghosted me. Yeah. Well, and at first I was. It seems like there's something different about, especially once we, when we first started the podcast of, you know, sending it out into the world, it's published and whoever can listen to it, right?
Mm-hmm. But then whenever you know someone who's listening to it, you're, it feels very vulnerable. Yes. Yeah. And so at first I was like, oh, I don't know if I really wanna mention it. And then I was like, actually, this is a great weeding someone out, like a great filter because are they gonna be supportive?
You listen to this, you're man. Yeah. If you listen to this and you don't like what you're saying, like this is unfiltered me. Right? So, right. If you don't like it, like I, that what I said, don't waste our time. Like, so I, I, I have a podcast that I have recorded a couple of episodes that are still in my queue.
Mm-hmm. Um, just because it, it is so you are about to release a podcast, is what we're hearing is what I'm hearing? Yep. Mm-hmm. On the precipice of greatness is coming across my airwaves. Wow. That's a big word. I like precipice. Yeah. Yeah. Like anything, three syllables and beyond. I'm like, Ooh. Mm-hmm. I'm here for you.
Go. She's got a lot of ally. Lock it down. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Stop girl. Talking with linguistically. I love giving our, well guess the vapor. That's so mean. That was nice. I'm up here thinking my brain is, my wheels are turned. Yeah. I, I, I, I, I recorded a couple episodes and I still, lemme tell you, I don't like editing.
I know this is why we love Joe. Yes. Joe's spa, nobody likes editing. Yeah. Nobody. I don't. And that's why the remain remaining episode remains Yeah. Remaining. It's worth unedited, buddy. I just didn't, I don't wanna do it. I don't feel like, so when I feel like doing again anyway, point in my story is, um, I can't even remember how we got here.
We were talking about dating and the people listening and the guy Oh, supportive people. Yes. Um, I have some people who are like supportive and, you know, just from the jump and they're like, whatever I do, they're supportive. And I was even like, uh, a couple of years ago, I was in a relationship. Guy was very supportive.
Um, and then I feel like people are only supportive to a certain level. Um, I tell people, people are like, oh, well if, if you, if I put you on my show, you should, you're gonna bring a bunch of people. I'm like, let me tell you what's not gonna happen. And it's not because I'm not funny or not, but my friends aren't coming to see me.
Like, I've been doing this for, this is year eight. And year one, they were all in. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And then when I would do bigger stages, they were all in. But like, they're not coming to a brewery unless they're right there. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Like I had a, uh, a show downtown last weekend, and my friends happened to be downtown.
I was like, oh, I'm downtown. They were like, oh, we're gonna walk over. Those are the kind of, uh, pe those are people who come, but I, but you know what I, that just sounds like Beco Beco having become friends with like a celebrity. Right. You know, but like anybody, right. Who's achieved a level of success, like you can only go like so often, right?
Yeah. Where it's like, I love you. You're doing great. Mm-hmm. Oh, wait, I can make that one. Sure. Great. And that's, and that's literally what it is, you know? 'cause I can imagine like. Not every like, fucking family member of Taylor Swift is like, oh yeah, right. They're like right there, but they at the beginning Right.
And they're like, you know, don't sing my song, but yeah. Okay. But listen, you know, it's good. Your, your core support. Yeah. Right? Mm-hmm. I do. I I, and don't give, don't give. I do have people who support me, and I, I don't want to, you know, crap on them or anything like that. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Breaking the wall. Thank you. Oh, I felt that one. Yeah. Yeah, that one right there. Yeah. But I, I'm genuinely, uh, grateful for people who support me, but I also know that this far in, I'm not gonna get the same people coming over and over. Mm-hmm. Because they're like. You told that joke last time, I'm gonna continue to tell that joke.
Mm-hmm. Because it works. Yeah. Yeah. And yeah. So somehow we got here from ghosting. Yeah. Oh, well, we're getting the whole ghosting. Um, oh. 'cause we were talking about the guys who aren't Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, what I've learned in this, uh, career as, as a comedian, I said, you've gotta be really, really secure to be in a relationship with a performer.
Mm. And that's not like just me all in, it's just like a performer in general because there's always going to be people around you. Um, there's always gonna be people who are. You know, in your face after the show, oh, come do this, duh. You know, and I'm run after the show. I'm running around doing whatever I need to do.
And so if you're not secure, then you may not be a great match. Mm-hmm. Which is okay. Um, but I think a lot of times people see that or they see that I'm a busy person. Um, I'll make time. I don't have a problem making time. Mm-hmm. But I'm not also gonna drop everything Right. To, to go watch TV at your house.
Mm-hmm. Like, and that was, that, that has been a challenge. And it seems like you don't have time for me. Yo, you're probably right. But make, like, make a bid. Like if you're really interested, figure, we'll figure out how to make the time. I don't mind adjusting. So a lot of times. I feel, uh, maybe my confidence is intimidating.
Even though, even though when I talk to guys, I am so derby like, I'm like, like I'm the, I love that word. I'm the dumbest of dumb when I talk to, especially like a, a guy, one of one of my Facebook friends posted something where they were like, if I'm talking to a guy that I'm not interested in, I'm flirting with him.
It's no problem. But if there's a man who I'm like really interested in, I'm like, oh, oh yeah. Hello. Yep. I like, I like bread. Yeah. I like eating soft pretzels and a whole conversation about soft pretzels with this guy I was interested in. Oh, just not an indepth analysis of in-depth analysis of soft pretzels.
Yeah. Specifically from, so was there like an end of like. Cheese. End of life versus mustard or, oh, no, no. Was there No, no resolution? No. We just, no. What you discovered about his soul? Uh, I discovered that he said the pretzels that I like are too much for him. He says he can't eat a whole. And I was like, that tells you everything you need to know.
I said, we're not gonna make it because I, we're not sharing number one. 'cause I'm going to eat a whole lot. The whole pretzel. Yep. Damn. Straight. And so that means we're gonna have to buy two pretzels. Yes. And if you're only gonna eat half, I'm gonna eat your half too. Yep, that's a problem. That's one and a half pretzels.
Yeah. And that's a, that's a, that's some discomfort that it, but I'm gonna do it because I fucking love pretzels immediately. Yes. I'm absolutely committed. And especially like a hot, soft pretzel. Don't even get, pull that chain. Let's go. And I get, and I get mine with no salt because see, yeah, because otherwise the salt's too much.
It's too much because it's also the big grain. It just so much, the ones are like battling in the line at like the Canes game. You're watching the one that doesn't have salt and they're like, don't get it. Don't you get it? That one mine or hundred percent. You get one with salt and you're just sitting there flicking it, just flicking the salt off.
That's correct. And, and yeah. So that's the other thing. If he eats a salted pretzel and I have to also gonna have to get too, and I have to eat the half of a salted pretzel. You're exposing me to high sodium levels. Thank you. Heart distress and disorders. Yeah. All of the above. All the carbs. Yeah. Extra water.
No, like I just, so much, I'm just like, I don't think I. I've realized that we're not gonna make it. Yeah, I mean, listen, you gotta have your standards if pretzel, yep. Yeah. Start somewhere. And God forbid he said he doesn't like pretzels. Oh, if he don't get outta my face right now. No, I, you know what? 30 yards deal breaker.
30 pastes. Dealbreaker right now. I mean, I don't care how stamped your passport is if you don't eat soft pretzels, or at least entertain the idea of having one. We're not gonna, or go stand in line to get me one, even if you don't want it. One. And that means you've never had like a pretzel bun. Oh, come on.
You have not lived. Okay. Like there, yeah. I'm sorry. I just, I'm getting, so now I want a pretzel. Yeah, I know, I know. But it speaks volume. Yeah, it does. It does. So, but to your point, I, I love what you said about like the confidence thing or like being a busy person because I actually, I very recently in, in a dating experience, um, had had to kind of navigate this and, and this, I don't care if what relationship you're in or dating situation that you're in, on either side, right.
If it's heterosexual, if it's on either side, whatever. Like I wanna be a priority but not the priority. Like, I need you to have other things to do. Right. Like, I've got all these things going on and they're very important to me and I have very meticulously chosen these things that I dedicate my time and energy to.
And I need you to have some other things too, because if you put all of your eggs in the gin basket mm-hmm. Y No super fucking telling though. 'cause we'll loop back to ghosting. Mm-hmm. Because I've had the dudes the fucking write up the love bomb. Mm-hmm. All your time, all of your attention. Mm-hmm. And then just disappear like a fucking fart in the night.
Just gone. But I realized that, um. I we're options, I'm an option. The, the dating pool, the, the available men realize that they have two or three women. Oh, yeah. A piece at least. And I'm, this is even the, especially if you wash your ass, right? I mean, like your options like. If you have some standards, man.
Mm-hmm. You really are fit. The ocean is your fucking, any type of, if you have all your teeth. Yep. If you, I say you are employed. I just, I'm sorry, I just caught Joe Ling over there. He guys are painting a sad picture, Joe. Like, you should be so thankful that you are in the happy loving marriage and do not have to deal with Yout, have these knees.
Fuck, bullshit. Listen, fuck that. And I, and I, uh, so much of my material is a, I have a whole, I usually just do a snippet of the dating material during my sets, but I can do like a whole set. Oh, there's a lot of content there. Yeah. Like there, the thing people always ask me after are, are these stories real?
I'm like, the people are real. Maybe the stories are embellished a little bit, but there's a lot of truth rooted in this. Mm-hmm. Um, I will give an example. I had a, and I use this in on stage, but, uh, a man, uh, said I was materialistic because I said, I prefer a man with a Java car and a place to live.
I wasn't specific, like, I wasn't specific. I said a job, a car place. That's, and he missed an opportunity. Now that was all he had to, and this Joe is why? Yeah. Yeah. Right. Yeah. He's not even an out, he's not thinking outside the box.
Not at all. He could have been like, and he could be like, girl, you wanna come over to my house? Mm-hmm. I'd be like, yeah. He'd be like, what is it? He'd be like. 2012 Dodge Neon, I'd be like, Ooh, girl, you like compact, if you know what I mean? But you, I got a Jeep, grand Jeep Grand Cherokee 2019. I'd be okay. You got leather seat seating, get some McDonalds.
She said, I could have a four for four. Can I get a frost? Right. That's what I'm saying. Like, just be creative. I didn't ask for much, but No, it's absolutely true. Yeah. It's, it's, it's, and. I don't, I don't wanna act like every dating scenario is terrible because it's not. That's, that's like I've met some nice people, some interest, I've met some people that I, you know, we started out trying to date and we're like, you know, let's be friends.
Yeah. Yeah. And, and that's cool where the relationship is and I'm open to that. Um, yeah. And I'm at the point in my life though, where I have so much happening, uh, right now that I don't know that I genuinely have a, a real time for like a true hardcore, we go together type relationships. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
And I mean, if it happens, beautiful, and if it doesn't, it's okay too. But like he's gotta understand that I'm not slowing down for him. Correct. Right. Like, I've spent a lot of time building or just even coming to terms sense of who I'm today. That sense. They don't like it. Yeah. They don't like a woman on the rise.
Yeah. Like, I'm they, no, this is, this is like today. Me, so many people say, oh. Today, me is totally different than what I thought it would be. Like, I thought I was gonna be married, have some kids, you know, be raising, you know, children and Oh, I'm getting ready to be a, I was, my, my grandmother recently passed and she was, we, I was talking about how at my age.
She was like a grandmother at my age. She had, and I was like, wow. That's crazy. Yeah. And I, I just have plants. Yeah. Like I'm a stay at home plant mom. I'm out here killing it. We're dog moms. We get it. Yeah. Yeah. Basically love my plants too. But yeah, you have a lot of peace in your life. Don't just, and I do.
Oh my God. When I come home and there's nobody there, it's beautiful. Or when I decide to be naked in the midday, oh my. Yep. And nobody's bothering me. Yep. The amount of time that I spend, like just Winnie poon it around my house, like, and I do like it, is unabashedly, like last night tank top in tank top and some draws.
Hey. And I was a, and I was, the only reason why I put on pants was because I got a little chilly. Right. But I get under a blanket. Right. Because also. This age, I'm either 106 degrees or four. There's no in between. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a, yeah, it, I like literally having that. And, and I will say, I don't want to say that all of the men in the world are bad.
They like that we joke about things. They're not, but, because I know the flip side to that, not all, however, not all, but however many, um, the other side to that too, that I hear from, you know. Male counterparts that are also in the dating world mm-hmm. Is that they, you know, women are, they're the ones that do want women that do have things going on, you know, and a lot of times they come across women that are just want a meal ticket Yep.
Or want somebody just to like, give them all the things and like, you know. Yeah. So I know that experience exists as well. That's just not mine. So. Yeah. And, and I've had, I've had in depth conversations about this with other men who are just like, oh, you know, you just wanna go eat. I'm like, I'll pay for my own food.
Yep. It's not even about going to eat, but it is about, um, seeing how we interact face to face. Mm-hmm. Um, if we're gonna be in a relationship, we're not, not gonna text our whole lives away. Yep. So, like, what are, what are you like in person? Like what do you like in public? How do you treat people? Yep. Mm-hmm.
Um, how, how do you treat service? How do you treat service? Mm-hmm. Ooh. And all those things. That's a tough, all those things matter a lot. A hundred percent. And so it's not so much about the meal or the spending money. I would much rather have a man who was like, I'm gonna think of something creative. It doesn't have to be a million dollars, but put some thought into it.
Like, if, you know, I like bowling. Let's go bowling. Everyone knows now that she likes bowling. I like fresh flowers in my home. Yeah. She already brought up the plants guys. So I, I would buy myself flowers every couple weeks. Mm-hmm. Yep. Same. And so what I would want is someone who's intuitive enough to be like, Hey, she likes flowers.
Yeah. I'm gonna buy her flowers. Oh my God. We've talked about this before. Mm-hmm. We talked about a Valentine's Day, like the, the weaponized incompetence. Yeah. And the how easy it is when you have to get something for a woman. Look at the shit she already has. Look at her items on her bathroom sink. You will know where she shops.
It isn't hard. I'm, it's in because I, I firmly believe, and I'm a I I've said, fuck it. I, I love myself. I'm gonna marry myself. I'm planning the wedding. Okay. Um, I, uh, I like it. So I put a ring on it. A man, a man will do what he wants to do. Yep. That's it. If he doesn't want to do it, he won't do it. Preach bitch.
Preach. Seriously. Yeah. Like I, um, and this is not to speak badly about my last relationship. He's very nice man. Just wasn't the right nice man for me. Nope. But there was a, uh, a holiday that we were celebrating. I won't name which Christmas holiday it was, but he gave me a very practical gift because it was something I said, Ooh, you have one of those.
It's neat. And so in his mind, he went to Harbor Freight and got me a practical gift and served it to me in a Harbor Freight bag. Yes. Oh my. And, and I looked at him and I was like, this, thank you for this goose. Oh, yeah. Oh yeah. And it, it, and this is not, this is not the, a new at this point, this was not a new relationship.
We had been together for a little while, so it's insulting. I just was like, so nothing in your mind said, I'm going to get her a gift card to coach because she carries coach bags. I will not look at her, I will not make any decisions based on what I see by far Made or she loves Target. I'll get her a Target gift card.
Yep. She loves food. Anything obvious. Exactly. Whatever. I love grocery stores. Exactly. I'll go to the grocery store for no reason during COVID. Did you, did you know gas goes in cars? Like literally, like there is no excuse. There's no excuse. Yeah. I'm sorry. I have no mercy. I just, and, and I just feel like at this big age, because we're old enough to start and.
A lot of the men I encounter, this is not their first relationship long term. You know, whether it's divorce or widowed or whatever. The fact is, they've been in relationships before that have failed. Mm-hmm. And so even in that failure, shouldn't you be like, why did this fail the last time? No, because they victims that would require some thought and reflection.
Self-actualization. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I was talking to somebody recently that they were thanking me for being so communicative. Mm-hmm. And transparent and things right. And I said, you're welcome. I was like, it doesn't seem like it's that hard. I was like, but this is where we are. Is it the things that are foundationally necessary for a successful.
Relationship are now the anomaly, right? Like, we don't expect them. So we appreciate them even more. When they happen. The bar in hell, the bar is in hell when they just, basic communication happens. You're like, he's swinging on it. Like it's a, like it's a just, oh yeah. Yep. Oh yeah. Gymnastics. I gotta tell you one of the funniest fucking gifts that I ever got from a dude.
Uh, I used to have a v I've had a mohawk for a really long time. My hair used to be very short and red, so I had a very short red mohawk. That's how it was when I, when we first met. And this man who I gave my body too, gave you a whole body, my whole, my whole body. This motherfucker. I went out to multiple stores to find this very specific team that he followed and this very specific gift and all the effort and the money I put in to exchange on, again, a holiday that will not be named Christmas.
And um, he got me a fucking wine glass that said, uh, it was something to the effect of like. Off work. Don't care. Hair outta the ponytail from the Dollar Tree. Yeah. Man. I know it from the Dollar Tree maybe TJ Maxx. Yeah, maybe. Right. Okay. And he was so proud. Mm-hmm. That I thought I, this would be hilarious because of the ponytail that you were wearing.
Bucket a fucking worms face. Mm-hmm. Like, yep. Up. Yep. Words. Yeah. Up words. Yep. Yeah. I, I mean, I feel like we've kind of, maybe we, we can commiserate in this Yeah. Because the first experience comes that I, I, you know, all of the thought into, like, this person traveled a lot for work, so I got him like this leather, like mail like toiletry we put in guys.
Right. Like the toiletry bag that had like his initials, like not mono grand, but like stamped onto it. Yep. And then his college, his favorite college sports team. I got like these leather like coasters that had like the, the biggest plays in history, like mapped on the coasters. Ooh. Yeah. Like all these little things.
Etsy's the jam. Um, that's facts. And, and I got some mixing bowls and wine glasses. For Because you are a wife appliance. Yes, yes, yes. Mm-hmm. And here's the thing, if these men, uh, okay, they're not bad men. No, they're not bad men. They're just selfish. They're just misguided. Maybe just don't think. And it's, I, like I said, I don't wanna make it seem like they're not all, um, we just, we just haven't found the ones who, who, who match our energy facts and that, and they exist.
Like they, I know because we know them. Yes. Like they're married to other people. People. They're other people. Right. We know they're fucking out there. Yeah. My brother is great. My brother-in-law, my brother, my brother in-law is great. I know. I, I, I know. Yeah. And it's, it's just, it's kind of, it's, it's difficult.
Um, but you can't, you can't find them. Because you, you, we can't get past the immediate rejection of something that makes us uncomfortable. Mm-hmm. Back in the day, we used to meet each other out in public. Yep. Right. We'd be forced into having face-to-face conversations. Yeah. We'd automatically go through some uncomfortable shit together.
Yeah. There was got, there was something. Yeah. Right. And so now you have, we just ghost Yeah. You have the shit well dipped. Well, yeah. 'cause that's easier. Right. Right. You don't have to say anything, you just, I don't owe this person anything. I'm out. Yeah. I can say that I, unless there was one security mm-hmm.
Issue that I ghosted someone. Mm-hmm. Other than that. Still treat people the way that I wanna be treated. Exactly. Exactly. And I say, Hey, this isn't what I'm looking for, this whatever, blah, blah, blah. I don't think we're a good match. Exactly. Good luck with life. Wishing you all the best in your dating journey.
Like the end, you know? Yeah. And, but that's, see, I will, I will send something like that after I haven't heard from them for a couple days and they've ghosted me, so then I just pet. So you ghosted. Yeah. No, no, that was me. I'm smart. I'm gonna start doing that. No, no, I dumped you. Yeah, because then that was the last text.
And then block and then block. That's his, that's then in the record. Yeah. I like that. I'm gonna try that too in the record, because I got, I got a couple people I can send that to today. Today. She said putting into action today. Today new policy and procedure happening. Yes. Unless he's text me back like, oh, hey.
I'm like, Hey, no. That's why I got a block. Yeah. You gotta pull the block. My block game is so weak. I'm so weak on a block game. Oh, I, I love a block and delete. I'm just, I'll mite you from the earth. I'm not good at it. Yeah. Yep. I, uh, I think that, uh, we also, the other thing with today's dating is that. Oh, school dating.
Mm-hmm. You know, you were focused on this prospect. Yes. Right? Yes. And you put energy and effort into it because you didn't have thousands of other people mm-hmm. Over here that you could just swipe or X out or like, or whatever, whichever, depending on whatever app you're on like that you had all these other options to distract you and not put energy and effort into getting to know this person.
Right. You know? But again, then hearkens back to, you know, you're saying like every dude has a multitude of excellent fucking female choices. Yeah. Right. Who are are, who are willing to just do, and there's some stuff I'm just not willing, like I have a friend, he has women literally saying, oh, let me take you to dinner.
Let me take it. I'm not saying that, you know why. 'cause I don't want to. No. And and maybe it's just I don't say how I was like, I grew up with, um, like a really great dad who did a lot of great things for me and set the bar really high. Mm-hmm. And. I've been told I need to relax my standards. No, you don't.
No, absolutely not. I perhaps not be so picky about, you know, certain things. Did that, did that come from someone who was unhappy in their marriage? Uh, I love that advice or relationship. Uhhuh, Uhhuh. Someone, someone who is clearly in an unhappy relationship telling me that my singleness, yeah. There's something wrong with it.
Oh, yeah. You can't be happy when you're single. Don't you know, part that I hate is that when people act like that's not, oh, me too. Or, you know, or, or because I don't have human children that there's something wrong or missing. Or like, my, my womanhood is invalidated because I've not given the birth.
That's right. But also like, oh, like, yeah. Oh my God. But guys. We can make a thousand dollars per, don't, you know, there's this excellent fucking program. Yeah. We could, we could like PEs like pop 'em out and make a thousand dollars a pop. Now we're incentivized. Yeah. 'cause that is enough money. Yeah. Right. For right.
Yeah. Because Jesus daycare is not $2 million a day. That's a month. That's right. Like my, my brother and my sister-in-law were making mortgage payments to their daycare. Yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. It's insane. When my, uh, youngest nephew got into pre-K, they literally wept. Well, yeah. Well, and like I've had friends that, that had children and they were like, listen, I really enjoyed my job and I had no intention of being a stay at home parent.
Mm-hmm. But the way that I can't afford daycare, I can't afford, like Yeah. Yep. You know, and I Yeah. That, that's the thing too. And I think especially like my bonus dad, I love him dearly. Mm-hmm. And I know that he just wants me to find a companion. Mm-hmm. And I am absolutely open to companionship.
Absolutely. But I'm not gonna settle for said companionship. Yeah, exactly. And I literally told a guy this recently, I was like, I have worked very hard. After my divorce to heal through that, be reflective. Mm-hmm. Learn and cultivate the most genuine happiness from within. Yeah. Because so often we place that on other people's shoulders.
Yep. And that's not fair. That's not fair. And so in doing so, I'm good. Like I am happy on my own. Would I like somebody to kiss every now and again? Sure. All the time. I mean, sure. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes. But, but, but I'm not going to, you know, sacrifice any of that or, you know, go back a few steps. Mm-hmm.
And, you know, on that happiness, just because all of a sudden you're not just to not be alone. Yeah, exactly. And like I, I, I am so grateful for like my village and the people that surround me. Um, my fam, my brother lives like an hour away, so his. He has three boys. My sister-in-law is my sister. You know, I have my sister.
And then just I have, I'm surrounded by so many people who I, uh, gather the things that I need. Like I call it my soul fuel. Mm-hmm. So I, um mm-hmm. I already gather that from them and I just don't wanna be with somebody who takes away from that. Yep. Exactly. Like if that person is not adding to, to it. If you are subtracting Yeah.
The formula is wrong and, and I just, um, I would. Yes, I would love to have a companion. Yes. I would love to have somebody. 'cause some days I just need a hug. Yeah, man. But also, gosh, like the peace and the peace of mind that I have, knowing that I don't have to like, fight with somebody over something stupid, like loading the dishwasher wrong, because that's a thing.
Mm-hmm. Being responsible for someone else's schedule and being responsible for someone else's clothes. Being responsible for cleaning after someone. Exactly. Being responsible for some the so responsibility of kids. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And, and then not even com companionship. Yes. But partnership. Partnership.
Because I don't wanna go into the situation, to your point, deja of like that I'm mothering you. Yes. Uhuh. That's what, 'cause I, I dated two men that were separated and not legally divorced yet. And I have said, I raised two men through their own divorce divorces. I'm not doing it again. Funny. And like it's, we make our choices.
I, I willingly made that choice. Yes. Because I'm captains, bro. Not anymore, but I was. Yes. And so I, it's, but it's a thing. And so I'm just like, no, like. Figure your shit out. Mm-hmm. Because I want a partner. I got X, Y, Z going on. Yep. And I need somebody that's got some other X, Y, Z going like, yeah. And I don't need you standing in the corner growling at me because you're mad because I'm moving along while you're still trying to figure all this stuff out.
Mm-hmm. Have a very specific, specific type that like always goes after me. It's the perpetual bachelor. Mm. It's the dude that's either ultimately like you're gay. Right. Yeah. Or it's that you've, you got love fucked up. Love though. Oh God. Me too. I love a game I fall from every time. Happy time. Um, but like, I love, like, I love a duality of femininity in a man life for, so that's fucking hot.
But anyway, I digress. It's a whole nother podcast. Look, I've come back and we have, now I'm just fantasizing. I lost what I was talking about. Moment. We're both getting our eyebrows done, getting our pedicures. It's like, oh, he's so muscly. He's so many muscles. I totally lost my train of thought. Oh my God. I dunno.
Partnership, the standards. Standards. Oh, the bros that come after you or the Oh yeah. The parental bachelor. Bachelors, yeah. It's always the, I'm the challenge. Yeah. Right. I every time I don't get divorcees. I don't get widowers. Yeah. I don't, I get the perpetual bachelors that are like, they fucking love that.
You're amazing, right? Mm-hmm. That I'm a fucking go getter. I make money. I do everything for myself. I fucking travel the world. I do all the things, right? And they're like, that's fucking amazing. And then they wanna come in. Knock, knock, knock, knock you down, knock, knock, knock, knock you down, knock, knock, knock, knock you down.
I, I just envision like little gnome, just like on a little. Yep. And you just see, and it's just little encroaching, little red flags, and it's a pattern of behavior mm-hmm. That I'm like, yep. You've done this with every relationship, with every woman that you've ever had, because you have a really fucked up mental idea of what a woman is supposed to be.
Yep. And what relationships are supposed to be. And so you just play this same fucking game of bullshit and lies. It's a facade. And that's the guy. Those are the ones that, and that's why I've given up. Yeah. Yeah. Because I, I'm like. I attract the dumbest moths to explain. But it makes you, makes you start to question like your own self.
Like what's wrong with Correct with me. Correct. I went through that. I went through that. Yes. I had to, I had to, I had to go to therapy. Yep. Sam's I, I had to go life, but everyone should go to therapy. Yes. But, but it really did have me questioning whether or not, like, not my worth, but like, you know, what am I, what am I doing that I'm attracting this type of person?
And I mean, the thing that I learned is that, um, I'm a giver just in nature. My nature is to give. And so I attract people who are like to receive. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And so that's the, was it the law of attraction or whatever, but I just, I want, um, gosh, it would be nice to be. Someone with someone who wanted to give too.
Yeah. Mm-hmm. And our goal would just be out, give each other and, and to appreciate that I give. Yeah. Yeah. Because like, I, yeah. Gift giving is very much one of my languages of love. It's famous, like Yeah. And so it, a lot of what I then it would become is bitterness. Yeah. That I could. And that's exactly what happened was like, I was thoughtful.
So this is even before this, I mean, there was another one where, is it a thoughtfully giving? And then, uh, that relationship happened during a time, it was during COVID, so it was already, we were already crazy times stressed. Yeah. And, um, it took me, it took some hit to, to lift the haze before I was like, yo, this.
Monkey, dude, let me let this go. Yeah. But it was also the thing that he loved about me was that I was so giving. Mm-hmm. Of course. Why wouldn't someone love that Someone's giving different, you know what I mean? Like, who doesn't love that? Yeah. I, I love taken a little bit more. Yeah, yeah. And didn't, and didn't, and anyway.
Yeah. Yeah. We, I, we'll have to, uh, I'm gonna have to come back because we, I could talk for Absolutely, yeah. Weeks and months over on this particular subject, Los and Watchers. The second episode will release shortly after, shortly after. Stay at tuned next batch. Yeah. Yeah. When I have fewer things to do in a day.
Yeah. So, but don't you, don't you settle or compromise or stop doing your thing? No, I'm still do, I'm still gonna do everything. Yeah. Like, I'm, even though this one man told me that I do too much and that I need to, he wants to give me a soft life, I said, I don't think you understand what you're telling me.
I'm like, you can't afford me, honey. I don't think. And that's what I keep trying to say. You can't afford me, don't say you're gonna spoil me because I can, I spoil myself. Exactly. You have no idea what I'll drop on jewelry. Fucking you. I have no idea. Don't I been with her when she don't play a fucking game that you actually can't win, man.
Well, and that's thing like with like dates and, and I, I know we don't have to harp on this too much other, but I'm never going to agree to go on a date that I couldn't pay for myself. Correct. Like just, and I, I can't say that everyone in a dating situation operates that way. Mm-hmm. But I was raised very thankfully to want a companion partner, but never to need.
Yes. And I always go in because as. Her Majesty States Queen, Beyonce. Best revenge is your paper. Mm. I go into every date no matter what it's gonna be. Right. That I'll pay for the whole thing. Mm-hmm. If you are a real fucking dick, I'm gonna pull that motherfucking Yeah, yeah. I'm gonna loudly do it. So other men around.
Oh, no, no, no. I got that sweetheart, don't you? No, no tip, tip. Oh, no, no, no, no. I, I know you've been having a tough time lately. Yeah. And that's the thing, like, like, like you said, like I, if I can't afford to go, I'm not gonna go. Yeah. But that's just, I mean, you know, you think about it, if a guy halfway through the date decides like, I don't wanna look at your face, morning he leaves.
Yeah. I gotta make sure I can take care of it. Exactly. Yeah. So, and I have unfortunately. Seeing, seeing that. 'cause I was in the service industry for a long time. Right. So being a waitress and a bartender, I've absolutely seen that shit. And seeing young women basically stranded, right? Yeah. And like, but then we have a really good conversation mm-hmm.
About life. Mm-hmm. And about how we all have to cover and pay our own bills in our own way. And that men are never gonna be there for us. Right. They're never gonna be there. Um, and so I'm hoping Yeah. And I, I do, I do, but I, I just, I do wanna, I'm, I promise you, I'm not bitter. I'm not bitter guys. I know myself wonderful.
But, but I'm bitter. I'm not, but I, I generally just want somebody who's able to match my energy. Yep. Yeah. Um, you know, like, I like to go out and do things and maybe challenge me a little bit. Yeah. That would be nice. Like, I like to go out and do things. Let's go do something. Yeah. I don't really wanna sit at home and watch tv.
I can do that by myself. Like if I, if I choose. To be like, I'm gonna let you into my life. Let's, let's do something. Let's have fun. Let's enjoy our time together. Let's make it Yep. Uh, you know, let's make it worth it. Or if we want a down day. Yeah. Like, 'cause down days can be fun too, you know? But like, let's, let's, but every day I, I don't want every day to be down.
Call me crazy, but let's plan. Stop. I know I did. You feel that? So, you know the, the did it flutter? Yeah. You know the DeAngelo guy? Do you know who I'm talking about when I reference that? Do I know? Okay. RIP this arrested, I dated, uh, he, his body was DeAngelo's. I thought you were gonna, he was DeAngelo. I was like, what?
I would've been really bragging at that bottom moment, girl. But he, I mean, sis. Yes. Cut God. Right? He ruined, he ruined, he ruined anything by DeAngelo for me. Right. It comes on and I think of him. I'm like, you motherfucker. I've literally been with her when it comes this dude. She's like, Nope. I would, I would be the same.
I'm like setting the standard of like, um, no, no. I work hard. I expect that if we're gonna date, we're gonna go out, we're gonna do things, we're gonna get to know each other. And this motherfucker just wanted me to endlessly come over to his house and eat microwave food and fuck. And I was like, you. I've got to go.
I don't care how good looking. The sex wasn't even good enough. Your body ain't shame. Ain't carrying you's a shame. Okay. Oh that is a damn shame's a shame. But yeah, no, you have to plan. That was literally, I was like, you suck as a human. Just dare tell me that our plan for the evening is for me to drive to your house.
To have microwave fucking food. It couldn't even kiss my ass. I mean, he couldn't get an Uber eat. Like I, no. Yeah, no, I'm good on that. No, I'm good. Subpar bar and health. So I don't know, maybe we just, maybe she's made the wise choice of just like marrying herself. Yeah. And we're the ones that just we choose torture us for punishment.
You, you will reach enlightenment. Yeah. I don't know. I, I've also heard you say like, when we talk about like the country and stuff like that, the ship will write itself. Yeah. And I just tell myself that in my dating life, like, I'm like, I know that I'm a good person. Yeah. And so I know that there are also other good people out there, and we are just having to wait the bullshit to find each other.
It organically happens. Yeah. Okay. Cool. And they will love that I'm a bad motherfucker. Mm-hmm. Right? Mm-hmm. And they won't care about any of the words I've ever said on any podcast. Right. They're not gonna owe my dip. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Real people who aren't gonna care that you're gonna express your love for, fucking passion for whatever, right?
Like mm-hmm. Great. Yeah. Then it's meant to fucking happen, but I don't think we should have to fight for it anymore. I know, I agree. We should have to give up our peace for it. I agree. Because we are exceptional. Mm-hmm. I agree. Period. Preach. I mean, deja literally just said we were doing something earlier this week and she was like, damn, if only I had a dick.
Like, we were like, we could just solve this whole problem. Yep, yep. Legit. That's why I understand. Okay. Anyway, so you know what, we're, we're still, and you know, for anybody else out there. Whether you're, you know, dating men, women, frog, both dating, whatever you are attracted to, just please don't break the law.
Please don't break the law. And you always get consent. Consent. Um, like just good luck. Good luck. You know, Don, Don settle. God's as hard as it may be, sometimes don't start questioning well. Do not let anyone endanger you or lower your standards correct. And do not let anyone question who you are or what your reality is, because if you're questioning yourself, you are being gaslit in some form or another.
Correct. Trust your fucking gut. Always trust your gut and go to therapy your gut. Trust your gut and know that everyone else isn't going to therapy, but you need to keep fighting on for you. Yes. Oh, and you can tell real quick, quick, real quick. People want the things that happen once you do work on yourself.
Mm-hmm. But you can real realize real quick, those that haven't, like Right. You start talking about like, some reflection, well, I've learned this, or whatever, you know, then. But anyway. Yeah. Like I said, we could, or like we've said, we could talk about this stuff. I'll continue on our second episode. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'll definitely have to come back because I do, I do have to. Yeah. I know. We, we've got so many things going on. Oh, I know. I do. I'm so, you're so gracious with our, our first guest. Thank you so much. Well, I, um, we can still talk about, like this stuff, because you asked really good questions. We Yeah. We have to get, yeah, yeah.
Mm-hmm. There are, there are important questions that must be answered. Mm-hmm. Life changing really. Yeah. Um, I mean, I, I feel like every episode when we have a guest, we, we, we do change lives. Um, so I'm gonna ask you that question now. Is a hot dog a sandwich? So by definition.
if it's in a bun, it can be considered a sandwich, but a sandwich says, be a piece of meat or substance between two pieces of bread. A hot dog bun technically is one piece of bread folded over. So on a technicality on both sides, a hot dog could be considered a sandwich depending on if your bun is together or broke.
Yes, like if I just went on an emotional rollercoaster. Yeah. Like I feel like if somebody said it's a sandwich, I'm be like, fine. If somebody's like, it's not a sandwich, I'd be like, you're right. Like, it's just, it, it is On a technicality, a sandwich is substance between two pieces of bread and technically the way a hot dog fits in a hot dog bun, it is a, a sandwich, but a bun is one piece of bread.
I agree. Yeah. I'm, I'm, yes. It's the perforation between perforation. Yeah. The breads. Yeah. If you're eating a hot dog and your bun comes apart, you can suddenly have a sandwich that's a suddenly sandwich. Yep. Sandwich, sandwich that to the tune of suddenly seam more suddenly sandwich. I love it. Yeah. I love it.
Yes. Mm-hmm. Alright, so I like, I feel like I got like a quarter of a point there in my, in my side. I still, I didn't start tallying these up actually. Yeah. Um, okay. What's the, yeah, we're at two. Yeah, I've got two on, on my side here. Okay. Okay. No, actually I think, uh, Chris Hicks, 2.5, the divorce attorney that we had.
Yes, he was, he, he, he agreed with me anyway. Um, what's the last song that got stuck in your head? Like I, when I answered that, I was literally singing all night. Long night. All night. All night. All night, night. Instant. Everyone you meet, I dunno why it was in there either. It's a great song. Get copyright infringement.
No, we're not playing, playing this song. Okay. You kicked, listen, karaoke wouldn't be a thing. Right? You got copyright infringement for singing. That's a, that's a solid one. Yeah. Final Richie man, just stand at the test of time. But if he's gonna sue us, uh, a podcast for. Sing it. This song. Yeah sir. You need something else to do also.
What about all the people that sing it on American Idol that you have to do in, in front of him? Right Guys, I'm sorry. I got paranoid. I'm drink weed water. That's okay. Oh my God. Pot water. Water. Um, no, that's a great song and honestly, I so funny. Very quick story about that song 'cause I know you have to go.
Um, we, my brother, uh, several, gosh, a lot of years ago, worked at Lowe's, they call improvement. Mm-hmm. And apparently the crew had, I, I'm probably just telling us whole secrets happening here. But anyway, they had like, uh, either like songs or like aisle numbers if there wasn't a very attractive person Mm.
That came into Lowe's. And so my brother got, he heard it like, called over the, the headphones or whatever that was like, oh, there, I forget what the term was. And this song was playing. Whenever this happens, this is why this is relevant. And so he was like, oh, shit. Okay. So he wraps up what he is doing. He goes to the aisle, it was me.
Ew. It was a friend, a coworker, I guess that was reporting me. And then, so my brother was like, okay, so he leisurely makes his, and so whenever he came out to me and talked to me and he told me this story, I, I was like, first of all, thank you coworker.
That's good. That's good. That was, but so this song always makes me think of that. So just a fantastic song. That's beautiful. Very nice. All right. So last question for you, and we release you to all of your obligations and fun things. What's for peace? Yes. Uh, what is the last thing that made you go? Hmm. So I was talking with a friend about relationships, um, like friendships.
Mm-hmm. And I was like, I don't think my friends like me and I don't like them either. But we've just been friends for so long, so we just keep doing it. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't, it's a friendship. We all have friends like that. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we're just now entwined like family. Yeah. We're just right, like, like my best friend, like we've, we've seen each other's net regions.
She had a baby. I'm just, it happens. Yeah. But you know, I'm just like, oh, I can't get rid of her 'cause of the kids. But the other ones I'm just like, do we even like each other? And I'm not sure. Yep. And I was like, I mean, they're around, they know a lot about me. They know a lot about me. Well, like maybe like old stuff about you though.
Yeah. But like they know current Ashley stuff. I mean some, yeah, some. That's the thing I just like, are we really friends or are we just doing this 'cause we've been doing it for so long? And if that's either way, that's fine. But just, you know what else you're describing a lot of marriages. Yeah. Mm-hmm. But also just friendships.
Friendships in time and people change and grow. Yeah. Life happens like, yeah. Yeah. And it's, it's, it's not anything where I'm angry or there's like harsh feelings or I don't like them, but I don't know that I like my friends and I don't that they like me either. Like all of them? No, just like a handful.
Okay. I was like, look. All of what? Your friends, what are your new friends? I wanna say we do like you. Yes. Yes. Lemme go ahead and get your address so I get your Christmas card. I'll put you on my mailing list. Love it. Yes. I have reached a level list we sent out. We sent out hol Well we send out New Year's cards for the, um, podcast this year.
Yes, it was. That was a good time. Um, so, because it was just, we went to Jamaica for her birthday last summer and uh, yeah. And you didn't take me well, I didn't know. Okay. Sorry. I'm ready. Yeah. Love it, but it's, it's in us, in this float and like, we're like flailing. It was a very candid shot that like the photographer on the resort caught.
It's hilarious. And people have been like, I just got a picture of Dejas legs delivered to me. That's like, like, yes. Yeah. That's what happened. Deja was like, oh, you gonna see these Jamaican rights. Right? That's right. That your Jamaican sun like, like a fucking radiating whiteness. Yes. Beautiful. Off of the ocean surface.
That's what you do. That's how you do. That's is a necessity. Well, as a translucent American, translucent American, that is all I can offer. My favorite thing that you've said to me. Yeah. Casper's cousin have beautiful translucent. Oh, my translucent sister Deia the same muscle. Ashley, obviously you've made us laugh plenty of times on this podcast.
Oh, thank you. So more people need to be, uh, laugh driven to laughter by you. I can go see her. 10 outta 10 would recommend. Fucking hilarious. Stop. Keep going. So on the socials and things, uh, where can people find you? So my Instagram is Ashley p Comedy. That's A-S-H-L-E-Y-P, like Paul Comedy. Spell it however you want, but, um, I'm on the ticky talk too, but like, not really, but kind of.
But that's Ms. Ashley Petos. M-S-A-S-H-L-E-Y-P. Um, I'm on Facebook, but don't add me because I don't. I really wanna add people. I don't know. Yeah, because I like post stuff on there that I don't want you to see. Fair enough. Okay. That's why it's practic. If you want a dose of rejection, try to add her on Facebook.
Yeah, no. Um, but it's, uh, uh, Instagram, Ashley p Comedy is the, the best way to go. And then, um, uh, I didn't even mention it, but, uh, you can also follow cleans of comedy. That's C-L-E-A-N-S, like cleans of comedy. Uh, 25. That's our, my, uh, group that I perform with, where we do clean comedy, love bringing family friendly comedy to every stage we step on.

So I've got a full plate starting. Um. I kind of had a chill week this week, but next week is ramping up for the rest of the month.
I'm just gonna be rolling and, you know, booking in April, booking in May, June. I got love that I got. So get a girl. Excellent. Fantastic. I highly recommend, uh, she, she is. I mean, this has been fantastic to have you across the table and, and instead of on the stage and being able to chat with you. Thank you.
Um, but on the stage she's fabulous and we'll have you laughing and cackling as well. So thank you. Um, again, please go check out Ashley Preston, wherever you can find her. Um, and uh, I'm gonna throw it over to you, buddy, to close this out. Uh, thank you for being an exceptional guest. Oh, thank you so much.

Um, uh, thank you for bringing a little ray of sunshine in a time when it's, uh, again, the United States of Health. And so again, no, we need, we need comedians to carry us Yeah. In these dark times.
